The Council is Hiring!

Apply to be the next Grant Manager

The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council, a statewide public policy and advocacy organization, is hiring a Grant Manager. We are a dynamic organization that creates change to make it possible for people with developmental disabilities to live the lives they want with the support they need. We do this through systems-level advocacy, grant making, resource development, and capacity building.

Grants address the Council’s priorities and serve as a significant and critical tool for supporting our mission. The Grant Manager directs and manages all administrative, fiscal, and programmatic components of the Council’s grant activities. This includes regular communication, interaction, technical assistance, and training with grantees. The Grant Manager will also manage all aspects of reporting to the Council about grant activities, projects, and the related outcomes.

The selected candidate will join a small staff and work with a 30 member Council.

Start the school year with a better understanding of accessibility and technology. Attend this upcoming seminar to gain insight and guidance on educational technology, tools and platforms used to promote and facilitate learning in classrooms. Full and equal access to digital instruction and education is a critical priority of the National Federation of the Blind because inaccessible educational technology creates barriers for blind and low-vision students and liabilities for schools.

Join the National Federation of the Blind’s Center of Excellence in Nonvisual Accessibility on August 18, 2021, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Eastern to experience the latest educational technology. This event is great for classroom teachers, teachers of blind students, administrators, parents of blind students, and any education professional who use LMS software.

Some topics to be covered:

  • Accessible Learning Management Systems (LMS): Google Classroom, D2L, and Canvas
  • Document Accessibility: Creating and developing materials in Word, PowerPoint, and PDF
  • STEM Technology: Learn about Talking Lab Quest, a device for labs, experiments, calculations, etc.
