The Hearing Accessibility Advisory Board (HAAB) is seeking candidates to serve on its advisory Board. Candidates should possess significant experience with deaf/hard of hearing issues, assistive technology, legal, program policy and development, and general disability awareness. The Board meets virtually, once a month, and serves at the pleasure of the Secretary of the Department of General Services.

In 2019, Maryland passed legislation requiring facilities and buildings receiving state funds to install hearing loop or other similar systems during renovation or construction.
The role of HAAB is to ensure and monitor compliance in accordance with the legislation, consult with stakeholders, make recommendations, and investigate complaints. HAAB also reviews requests for waivers from the legislation.

The Board consists of individuals with hearing loss who use hearing loop systems and experts within the disability and technology field.
