The IMAGE Center of Maryland has just launched its Summer Teen Program schedule. This is a great opportunity for teens with disabilities to take part in activities and engage with peers. Check out the schedule below and register online here.

 

Teen Connect & Travel Training

Wednesday, July 10th 5-10pm, Thursday, August 1st 6-8pm, Thursday, September 5th 6-8pm

14years and older

$28 or $10.00 per individual session

Come hang out with us in Harford County, meet new friends and have fun while increasing self-awareness and social skills, including communication with peers, staff and members of the community. Through the following programs participants will also work to conquer critical skills for independent living, including travel training with IMAGE Travel Training Instructor Amanda Taylor, money handling, time management, following verbal and written directions, and establishing a general, routine of personal hygiene.

Wednesday, July 10th 5-10pm MTA to the Orioles Game

Teen Connect will be kicking off the summer by putting their travel skills to the test. We will be meeting at the Park & Ride in White Marsh and will be traveling via MTA to the Orioles Game starting at 7:05pm.

Drop off (5pm) and Pick up (10pm) will be at the White Marsh Hilton Garden Inn. Please plan to send money for purchasing food at the Stadium.

Thursday, August 1st MTA to dinner in Towson

Teen Connect will be utilizing their travel skills via the MTA to head to Towson for a night on the town and dinner. Drop off and pick up will be at the Hilton Garden Inn in White Marsh. Specific times for travel will be provided to program registrants shortly.

Thursday, September 5th Back to School Cookout and Introduction to Cab Travel

Teen Connect will be wrapping up the summer with a back to school cookout at the pavilions at Rockfield Manor Park. Participants will also review their summer travels through Teen Connect while also experiencing an introduction to independent travel by cab.

IMAGE Girls Night Out    

Thursday, July 25th 5-7pm, Thursday, August 22nd 6-8pm, Thursday, September 26th 6-8pm

14years and older

$28 or $10.00 per individual session

Ladies, all the ladies! Join us once a month for Girls Night Out! Come out for craft parties, nail painting and everything else that makes being a girl so much fun! This program is designed to assist girls with disabilities to increase self-esteem, self-determination and promote vital self-advocacy skills through creative activities and conversations specific to the lives of young women.  Skills of independent living such as money handling and budgeting, personal hygiene, relationship/friendship do’s and don’ts and increasing social skills will all be touched on during this program.

Thursday, July 25th 5-7pm Art without Boundaries Exhibit and Reception

Dress your best and join the ladies of Girls Night Out at Harford Community College to browse art from artists with and without disabilities, meet key representatives of the disability community and participate in fun activities throughout the night. We will be having light refreshments and munchies during the reception.

Thursday, August 22nd 6-8pm Back to School Shopping at the Harford Mall

Make your last minute back to school shopping list girls. We will be heading to the Harford Mall for dinner at the pizzeria and some shopping! Parents, please plan to send money for any personal shopping. Pizza will be provided.

Thursday, September 26th 6-8pm Crafts and Cooking in the Park

Join us for a night of cooking and crafts at Rockfield Manor Park to end the summer season. Each participant will be asked to contribute a potluck item for our meal.

 

Guys Game Night 6-8pm

Thursday, July 11th, Thursday, August 8th, Thursday, September 12th

$28 or $10.00 per individual session

Calling all guys! Come get your game on! Do you have interests that you want to share with friends? Do you want to try new things and meet new challenges? Make new friends? Join us for a guy’s only game night once a month! We will be increasing independence through this program by focusing on topics such as money handling and budgeting, personal hygiene, forming meaningful friendships and identifying and controlling emotions for continued success.

July 11th Bowling @ Forest Hill Lanes – Please plan to contribute $5.00 for Pizza & Drinks

Guys Night will be kicking off the summer with a trip to the bowling lanes. We will be utilizing this trip to highlight the similarities and differences between individual skills and the contribution of each individual to their team. Guys Night Bowling is always a fun night!

August 8th Movie Night @ Regal Cinemas in Abington

Come escape the heat of summer with friends. Guys Night will be working to build a variety of social skills during our trip to the theater. Please plan to contribute money for snacks & drinks. The movie seen will be voted on by all registrants close to the program date so don’t forget to register!

September 12th Eden Mill Nature Hike & Picnic

Join us for a night full of hiking to strengthen socialization and general communication, as well as leadership skills.  Please plan to pack a picnic dinner as we will be stopping to fill up during our hike and scavenger hunt activities.
