We were welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our time! MDTAP shared a table with our sister Virginia and Pennsylvania Tech Act programs. It was great to see the other Tech Act programs in-person and we all brought a variety of low and high tech devices to show off during the innovation event.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/USDOT.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4302\" src=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/USDOT-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Front door of United States Dept of Transportation\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/USDOT-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/USDOT-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/USDOT.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had the pleasure of showing off two awesome devices to summit attendees<br>primarily from the federal and district governments, respectively. The first device I showed off was the fantastic Victor Reader Trek. Which is a great audio player for individuals with low vision that read a ton of file formats. Another cool feature of the device is the GPS functionality so it can support independent travel for individuals with visual challenges.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/sign.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4301\" src=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/sign.png\" alt=\"Blue sign with write writing &quot;Accessible Route&quot; with arrow \" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/sign.png 225w, https:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/sign-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second device I displayed was the Buzz clip; a mobility device that aids the movement of individuals with low vision and blindness. The device is a sensor that provides haptic feedback and aids with object detection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/device.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4299\" src=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/device-300x206.jpg\" alt=\"Close up of small black device with silver knob.\" width=\"300\" height=\"206\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/device-300x206.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/device.jpg 730w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This particular device hails from Canada and I was fortunate enough to meet the device\u2019s creator earlier this year in California at the CSUN Accessibility Conference. What I love about the device is its simplicity and usability.
