Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of\nattending the Inter-agency Accessibility Forum (IAAF) sponsored by the Federal\nChief Information Officer Council (Federal CIO Council\u2019s) Accessibility\nCommunity of Practice and hosted by the General Services Administration (GSA)\nand Health and Human Services (HHS) federal agencies in Washington DC.&nbsp; I had the pleasure of working, collaborating\nand consulting with some fabulous digital accessibility and assistive\ntechnology professionals from a variety of backgrounds at this two day forum in\nour nation\u2019s capital.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/key.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4277\" src=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/key.jpg\" alt=\"Close up of blue key on keyboard with disability logo on it\" width=\"278\" height=\"181\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the\ntwo-day forum, I had a chance to learn about how the federal government is working\ndiligently to make their digital footprint accessible for all.&nbsp; I was particularly impressed with the energy\nof the speakers, presenters and the attendees.&nbsp;\nMany of the attendees were from a variety of government agencies and\nthey all came together for one common interest making digital content more\naccessible for federal employees and consumers with disabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/key-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4275\" src=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/key-2-132x300.jpg\" alt=\"Large sign with Dept of Human Services logo in center surrounded by logos of all agencies in department\" width=\"132\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/key-2-132x300.jpg 132w, http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/key-2.jpg 419w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 132px) 100vw, 132px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a\nnon-federal employee, I was welcomed by all and I truly appreciated the warm\nwelcome I received.&nbsp; Overall, it was a\nfantastic cooperative learning opportunity that I was afforded and I would\ndefinitely recommend that other state and municipal employees register and\nattend this forum, if they have capacity.&nbsp;\nI was very impressed with their sessions on digital accessibility\ntesting.&nbsp; In particular, I loved learning\nmore about the Accessible Name and Description Inspector (ANDI) accessibility\ntesting tool that is the primary tool for accessibility testers within the\nfederal government.&nbsp; ANDI.&nbsp; A free-to-use government accessibility\ntesting tool that is pragmatic and has a proven track record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/key-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4276\" src=\"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/key-3-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Large screen with words &quot;Annual Interagency Accessibility Forum&quot;
