{"id":2705,"date":"2014-11-06T11:31:51","date_gmt":"2014-11-06T16:31:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/?p=2705"},"modified":"2014-11-06T11:31:51","modified_gmt":"2014-11-06T16:31:51","slug":"fcc-best-practices-for-closed-captioning-11614","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.equipmentlink.org\/blog\/?p=2705","title":{"rendered":"FCC Best Practices for closed captioning, 11\/6\/14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FCC BEST PRACTICES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0part of an effort\u00a0to improve caption quality, the FCC released new closed captioning best practices, which will go into effect on January 15, 2015.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vitac.com\/\">VITAC<\/a>, which worked\u00a0with the\u00a0agency to develop recommended practices,\u00a0has condensed the 150-page document into a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vitac.com\/news_blog\/blogmanager\/app_engine\/assets\/images\/fcc%20closed%20captioning%20best%20practices.pdf\">one-page reference sheet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new rules address realtime and offline captioning and aim to improve the captioning experience for all users.\u00a0 Quality captions are a team effort, so\u00a0the regulations are divided into Video Programmer responsibilities and VITAC responsibilities.
